5 Fun Things to Do in Houston This April With Kids

April 3, 2023 by Lindsay

No April fooling here – here are 5 fun things I’m looking forward to this month!

Houston Zoo’s New Galápagos Exhibit: Opens to the public April 7, and special member preview days April 5&6! No reservations needed for the member preview. Penguins and more!

Art Car Parade & Events: The Parade is on Saturday, April 15 with events kicking off at 11am! There’s the HEB Kids Creative Zone in Sam Houston Park with hand-on activities, entertainment, food and more plus the Line-Up Party along Allen Parkway! The parade will start at 2pm. You can reserve a seat in the Grand Stand for $40 or line up along the parade route for free!

Disney on Ice: Frozen & Encanto – April 13-16 at NRG. Two of the most popular recent Disney movies are now on ice! You can also purchase the Character Experience in addition to the show and hang out with some of your faves.

Earth Day & Water Works Festival at Discovery Green – April 22. Free interactive exhibits, family-friendly performances, live music, crafts and more.

Rail Fest – April 29 & 30 at Galveston Railroad Museum. This is a huuuuge model train show where collectors and enthusiasts show their model train sets – trains weaving in and out of the train depot, and continuing onto the Garden of Steam.

What are you most looking forward to with the kiddos?
