If you’re looking to take advantage of the nice weather in Houston’s winter and early spring, there are lots of great places to enjoy outdoors in the Houston area with kids! Let’s head to Armand Bayou Nature Center.

About 20 minutes south of Houston, you will find the Armand Bayou Nature Center in Pasadena. The ABNC has over 2500 acres of natural wetlands, prairie and marsh habitats and over 370 species of birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians!
At ABNC, the main activity we did is hiking their trails (especially the Boardwalk discovery loop, which includes a children’s area) and checking out the bison! This is super easy and doable for even little legs – the parking lot is very close to the start of the loop! They also have frequent special events, camps,
and also offer pontoon cruises for ages 5+, “safari” tours for ages 6+, and lots more. We visited on a weekday when it was quieter and the farmhouse etc was not open that day (just fyi!). I did hear that in the spring/summer there may be a decent amount of spiders at the ABNC – good to know if spiders are not your thing!
🎟️ Ages 3 and under: free; Kids $5; Adults $7
⏰ Open Wed-Sat 9am-5pm, Sun 12-5pm
📍 8500 Bay Area Blvd, Pasadena, TX
This is a great nature area very close to town! Have you been? What is your favorite part?
