This weekend, Rice Village is getting an amazing new coffee shop – one that’s on a mission!

Bitty & Beau’s Coffee is a human rights movement disguised as a coffee shop: a one-of-a-kind experience that is changing the way people see people with disabilities. The founders of the original shop, Amy & Ben Wright, are the proud parents of four children — Lillie, Emma Grace, Beau, and Bitty. Lillie was born with autism, and Bitty & Beau were born with Down syndrome. With over 80% of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities unemployed nationwide, the Wrights believe that Bitty & Beau’s Coffee creates a path for people with disabilities to become more valued, accepted, and included in every community. The original shop opened January 2016 in Wilmington, NC, and employed 19 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Now, in Houston we have our very own Bitty & Beau’s! I was able to pop by last weekend for their celebration with all the new employees – and it was SO beautiful and moving to see how excited the employees and their families were.
Stop by and experience the spirit of Bitty & Beau’s – a place that is changing the way people see, value, accept, include, love, and respect other people. We are so proud of our friends the Scoggins family who have taken on this new adventure and can’t wait to stop by for a cup of coffee and smoothies for the kiddos! See them everyday at 2367 Rice Boulevard.
