If you don’t have memberships to every museum in town (and who does?!) make sure to check out these free admission days. If they fit into your schedule, they are a terrific way to spend a day out!

Houston Museum of Natural Science: free admission to the permanent exhibits on Thursdays from 2-5pm.
Museum of Fine Arts, Houston: free general admission all day Thursday. Children under 12 are always free! MFAH’s off-site properties Rienzi and Bayou Bend also periodically host free days and free events.
Children’s Museum Houston: free admission for Family Nights on Thursdays 5-8pm. Admission is also free with the use of a FLIP Kit pass! Check out a FLIP Kit (which has a book plus an activity inside it!) from the Houston Public Library. When you are done with the FLIP Kit, fill out the user survey included with the FLIP Kit and present the survey to the library when you return the FLIP Kit. The library staff will give you a free family pass, which can be used at the Children’s Museum Houston or the Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center.
Houston Zoo: free admission once a month (usually a Tuesday!). About a week before the free day, the free tickets will be available to reserve online. Keep your eyes open, the free tickets go fast and they are not available at the gate! Upcoming free days are: March 7, April 4, May 2, and June 6. The March 7 free day ticket reservations will go online March 1 at 7pm!
The Health Museum: free Thursdays 2-7pm.
Always free: the Menil Collection, Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, and James Turrell SkySpace at Rice University.
Note: the times and days are subject to change (for instance, HMNS free times can and often do change seasonally!) so double check before you head out 💙
