We had dinner with friends at The Houstonian Hotel this weekend and it was so merry! If you’re looking for a special outing, here’s what to expect.

The Houstonian’s Lobby is totally decorated for the holidays including a massive tree and roaring fireplace. An intricate “Merry Mansions” gingerbread house display is located above the Great Room Lobby’s 30-foot fireplace (with a little train running around the gingerbread houses, too!).

From 6-7pm on Fridays & Saturdays during the holiday season there is a live entertainer performing Christmas carols. Our kids loved the free cookies (First Lady Mrs. Bush’s recipe!) and chocolate truffles. The cookies made for a good treat in return for (mostly) good manners at dinner.
The Houstonian Lobby also has a special holiday menu with bites and themed holiday drinks, which look so festive and adorable. The merry menu features Smoked Blue Crab Claws, Gulf Seafood Crêpe, Nachos De Carne Asada, and Tacos De Suadero, plus special merry cocktails such as Mrs. Claus’ Martini, the Bayou Bender, Starry Night, the Poinsettia, and Coconut Eggnog.
In front of the hotel, the huge live oak out front is covered in lights and super cool to see. We ate in Tribute, the restaurant, but of course soaked up the lobby atmosphere, saw some of the performance, and enjoyed the treats. A definite hit for a festive night! Have you been by The Houstonian this season?
