I was lucky enough to receive an invite to check out the brand new Houston Toy Museum this past week – and now I can share all the details with you!

Located in the heart of the Houston Heights, the Houston Toy Museum hosts a very cool collection of vintage and antique toys. (And for us 80s and 90s babies, lots of nostalgia too. Shout out to Molly McIntire!) This would also be a really fun and unique outing for grandparents and grandkids – exploring and chatting about the different toys from various eras.
While most toys are collectors items and on display, there is also a cool interactive section specifically to play with too. The Museum has a soft play area for babies and toddlers, giant toys like huge Lincoln Logs, and even video games.
Parking is free, but you may have to hunt along 19th Street at busy times. The Museum is in a great location – you can definitely stop for lunch or dinner or even ice cream right along 19th Street.
Don’t say I didn’t warn you – there is a great little gift shop! I even picked up a Christmas gift to tuck away until December. A note about accessibility: the building was originally constructed in the 1940s and most of the exhibit space is located upstairs. At this time their location is not wheelchair accessible (or stroller friendly due to stairs) but they hope that this can be remedied in the future.
Houston Toy Museum is now open, from 11am – 5pm Sundays – Wednesdays and 10am – 6pm Thursdays – Saturdays, at 321 W. 19th Street Suite C, Houston, TX 77008.
