We have been wanting to check out the cool ice skating rink at Discovery Green and were so pumped to do so this weekend. Thanks to Discovery Green for hosting our visit!

Discovery Green‘s ice rink is Houston’s only (!) outdoor ice rink – so unique and the views are great. It was really cool to be there in the middle of the city. Tickets are normally priced at $17/person but they have lots of discount days, including “cheap skate” and “BOGO” days, so be sure to check their website calendar to take advantage of the special pricing. Tickets are timed, and are good for 75 minutes. You can also rent a locker to hold your items while you skate. The rink is ADA accessible and skates start at toddler size 8. The rink is open through January 28.
Unfortunately, there are no skate aids for kids (in NYC they had these little penguins kids could hold on to for balance while skating) and I think that would be really cool if they added something like that in future! The kids’ skates do have double blades for balance.
If you are in the area for skating, remember that there is so much to do at and around Discovery Green! We got snow cones in the park, played a minute at the playground, and got lunch after skating ⛸️
We really enjoyed this – such a cool activity here in Houston! And my two year old (almost three) even got to skate! Have you gone ice skating at Discovery Green?
