I don’t mind *a* rainy day but several in a row… rough with kids! I have some great rainy day ideas in Houston with kids – bookmark this post for unpleasant weather days!

Rainy Day Ideas in Houston with Kids!

GET ACTIVE:
Slick City – Slides, indoor playground, small go-karts and more.
Activate Games – Indoor, interactive games
Andretti Karting – Indoor go-karting and arcade
Puttshack – Indoor miniature golf with cute and interesting set-ups
Palace Social – Two locations: Bellaire and Pasadena. Bowling, arcade games, and more
Bowl and Barrel – Fun bowling for the whole family
Dick’s House of Sport – Huge store with free indoor rock climbing, batting cage, soccer simulator and more – locations in Katy and Baybrook

HEAD TO A MUSEUM:
The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston – All ages love the cool lighted tunnels, the Infinity Room, and checking out the artwork (and maybe a gelato or a cookie in the restaurant!). Kids 12 and under always free, and everyone is free on Thursdays.
Children’s Museum Houston – One of the best children’s museums anywhere! Free on Thursday nights 5-8pm
Houston Museum of Natural Science & HMNS Sugar Land – Dinosaurs, cool exhibits, and more! HMNS main campus is free on Tuesdays 5-8pm.
Asia Society Texas – Ride the virtual bullet train to explore Asia and more. Free on Thursdays.
Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center – An excellent sister museum of the Children’s Museum Houston
The Woodlands Children’s Museum – A children’s museum much closer for those in the Northern Houston suburbs
The Health Museum – This museum has interactive exhibits, including a larger than life heart, brain, and more!

COOL HOUSTON EXPERIENCES:
Space Center Houston – Out of this world!
Houston Toy Museum – Toy nostalgia plus some toys you can play with, too
Rosenberg Railroad Museum – Very cool model trains, train play room, and more
Lone Star Flight Museum – Huge hangars full of real planes, interactive activities for kids, a toddler play area for littles, and more
1940 Air Terminal Museum – The original Houston airport – learn a little about the history and check out the best plane watching area in town

GET THE WIGGLES OUT:
The Play Space – a space themed indoor playground
Second City at Second Baptist Woodway – a free playground, but make a reservation ahead of time
Katy Mills Disney Junior Play Zone – free indoor playground
Living Spaces Katy indoor playground – free
Memorial City Mall’s Frolic’s Castle – free
Pump It Up – An indoor bounce house
Wonderwild – all the jumping and indoor playground
Spa World Houston (Katy) Kids World – indoor playground, a little

UNIQUE EXPERIENCES:
Sloomoo Institute – Everything slime for your slime lovers
Color Factory – Interactive experiences with everything from cool ball pits to silent disco to ice cream
Sea Center Texas – a free aquarium in Lake Jackson, plus hatchery

BOOK IT
Public Libraries – so many books, free activities, free story times and more! Check your local schedule
Brazos Bookstore – a favorite, with a little reading area for kids and weekly story time
Blue Willow Bookshop – another favorite, with an excellent selection of both books and games, plus weekly story time
