When I saw that the Houston Museum of Natural Science was going to have a special train exhibit, I knew that we had to stop by and check it out. I knew dude especially would love it – and he did!

For the best experience on busy days, I recommend arriving at opening. We arrived at 9 on.the.dot and basically had the place to ourselves. More people had arrived by 10:30 but it still wasn’t super crowded! Since we are members, it was easy to simply pop in and check out the exhibit, and then pop out when we were done. Trains Over Texas is included with a membership or with general admission – no extra fee required.
There are two rooms of model trains, and the trains travel through familiar Texas scenes like Big Bend and downtown Houston.

As we left at 10:30am, the entire parking garage was full and they were not allowing more vehicles. If garage parking is important to you over the busy holiday season, arrive early! Of course, I generally try to park on the street but if it is cold/rainy/no street parking available, keep in mind the garage.
Have you been to see Trains Over Texas yet?
